Special Issue Information

Dear colleagues,

We live in a time when access to sport is relatively easy and where there is a wide range of sports on offer in different contexts (nature, indoor spaces, etc.). The benefits of sport for physical and mental health are well documented. However, the risks associated with sports activity in the context of highly competitive performance are also well known.

We are currently going through an atypical period in which the constraints imposed by the pandemic have changed the routines of athletes, not only in relation to their sports practice but also to their social environment. These new dynamics are also starting to have repercussions for the health of athletes.

Thus, the purpose of this special Issue is to share valuable knowledge gained from recent research in the field of physical and mental health in sports. We expect that experts from this field will contribute their work with the aim of advancing this important area of health science.
